Artiste Spotlight - Seinabo Sey

source
Today's spotlight is on Seinabo Sey
A singer that hails from Sweden.
I think I have a fascination with singers from the continent of Europe.
Their vibe and tone of voice is just exceptional.

I came across her music on Spotify.
I have an infatuation with the related artistes tab and my affair tends to give me gems.
Seinabo Sey being one of them.
Her discography is small at the current moment with Younger and Hard Time
[the latter I absolutely adore]

then this Swedish Soul is one you should be tuned into.If you like the sounds of Disclosure, Banks or Maipei
Peep my fav Hard Time below.

Enjoy =)

Artiste Spotlight - Ella Eyre

Today's spotlight is on Ella Eyre

source

So if you've been following for a bit, you know I have a thing for singers who have an out of this world, soulful voice. You would also know that a lot of them I shine the spotlight on tend to arise from the British soil. Seriously.. what is it with them?! Is it the talent combined with the accent? It can't be the water because I've been drinking (I've been drinking) it for couple years now and my voice ain't there. Anyways Ella.. *swoons*
Her hair is so lion-esque I can't stand it. Love the color.

source

BUT HER VOICE!!!!!!!!! I can get lost in it for hours. She started out doing bits and bobs with Rudimental. Search for some of their collabs on YouTube. You won't be disappointed. My fav song from her is 'Love Me Like You' off of her EP "Deeper. I'm so happy that I have another singer to add to my listening library AND ..

I'm seeing her live tomorrow *squeals* :)))) So enough rambling from me and get into the goodness that is Ella Eyre.

Enjoy =)

Refuge & Strength

"But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress."
- Psalm 59:16 (NLT)

Felt like sharing this on the blog today. Was doing my devotional and this was one of the verses in it The devotional was on praise and thanksgiving.

-an excerpt-
Praise is not optional in a life that wins over worry and doubt. Praise is essential in a journey of faith. It is a demonstration of trust and the acceptance of a circumstance without insisting that God change it. When we choose to praise God, we choose to trust Him. And when we choose to trust God, we will win over worry.

Look man, God just loves to speak to my heart at the right time. ALWAYS!
I cannot deny that He exists, when I pray to Him about things and He responds.
What an awesome God I serve!

So I don't know who will read this and what you are going through, even if you aren't going through anything in particular.. PRAISE HIM!
He will rescue you. He is the same God who delivered the Israelites from Egypt.

So this devotional led me to listen to one of my fav Christian artists, Kristine Alicia.
First I listened to "Unfailing Love" & "Praise Dance" off her album Get Ready
then another song, "Rescue".
Sharing the vid for Rescue here and I pray you'll be blessed by it.
(oh and she just happens to have bomb behind natural hair :)

The track is in the realms of neo-soul with a Jamaican flavor (of course)

Sisters Iman & Siham were born in Somalia & now reside in the T-Dot.

They've been out and about for a bit posting covers on Youtube
& just being generally fierce.
Y'all see their hair? Bananas & Almonds.
Iman's golden tresses are now my official Summer do inspo.

Their single "Rule The World" initially has a M.I.A. vibe to it.
The song is upbeat & very dance ish.
I can see it pumping in a club or house party.
I rox with the visuals for the song too.

I'm interested to see what else they have in their pockets.

Today's fix is in film form of British singer Laura Mvula
Her sound is amazing and if you don't know about her
GET INTO HER!

Her face was plastered all over the London Underground for her album
&
rightly so.

Great vid for Spring. I love the greenery, the flowy dresses and the pastels.
Of course I'm loving Laura's low cut. I'm slightly envious of chicks that can rock those super low fades

Bob's Birthday

Today marks the anniversary of the icon Robert Nesta Marley's birthday.
Longtime readers know I'm a Bob fan & it is only right that I have a Bob post for today.

Bob Marley contributed greatly to reggae music, paving the way for many artistes.
His name is synonymous with feel good music while his face is one that adorns countless tees.
Not to be degraded to just irieness and fashion, Bob Marley was a conscious artiste whose music speaks on the issues of society while pushing positivity.

Robert Nesta Marley is a great Jamaican figure who is adored by millions.
He is a role model and inspiration for many musicians, not just those of the reggae genre.

His legacy lives on through his music, his children & grandchildren.
Blessed Earthstrong Bob!

Take a listen to The Heathen performed live by Bob Marley & The Wailers.
Check out Bob's trademark denim suit and the head wraps of the I-Threes as well.

Enjoy =)

Greetings Lovelies!
Decided to give a kick start to Hump Day by sharing about this group Allegra Dolores.
I was made privy to them courtesy of RoomieLoverFriends - a hot fire web series by Issa Rae & Black&SexyTV

The smooth theme song for the series, 'Chemistry' is done by Allegra Dolores and I was thrilled when Black&SexyTV put a music video for it on their channel.

These soulful sisters (who are really sisters) are ones you should look out for and put on your Chill Playlist.

Check out the visuals for Chemistry below and be sure to subscribe to Issa Rae and Black&SexyTv on YouTube.

Artiste Spotlight

She isn't new on the scene
especially to most natural haired ladies

Lianne La Havas.

Her sense of style and amazing hair is what drew me in first then I heard her voice & I was love struck.
She's a Brit.
but of course!
They're so bloody talented.
A friend of mine told me the other day that she reminds him of me and I was extremely flattered.

Anyhoo
I've been listening to her album 'Is Your love Big Enough' these past few weeks and my fav track Forget has visuals.

I love the video & the fun hairstyle she rocks in it.
She ditches her signature side bun for a simple updo with bangs undone.
I think the style is one that can be done casually and for a night out.

Can't wait to try it.
Check out the vid below and cop her album on iTunes!

Artiste Spotlight - Emeli Sande

Bursting onto the music scene in 2009, Emeli Sande is a lady with a memorable voice & not to mention, a serious education. Born in Scotland, this bi racial blonde beauty made sure to cop a degree in wait... Medicine and still had time to clutch a record deal.
Nice.

Her debut album "Our Version of Events" will be released in early 2012. I will most definitely be getting that.
Who isn't pumping her single "Heaven"? Get on it.
Her 2nd single "Daddy" is out and there is a music video for it. I fell in love with this track when I happened upon a vid of her on Youtube singing an acoustic version of it.
Peep the official music vid for Daddy & the acoustic bit.

Enjoy =)

Mr. Ed

Since plotting myself on British soil, I've been made privy to a slew of artistes that were virtually non existent to me before.

One of them is Ed Sheeran. It was love at first sight.. more like love at first listen technically because I was watching his video for "You Need Me, I Don't Need You" & I didn't see him at first :|

Point is, his voice is soothing. Perfect with a spot o' tea, yea?
Got his album "+".. love that as well.

Fave tracks
-Kiss Me
-Give Me Love
-You Need Me, I Don't Need You
- U.N.I

Also got some other songs of his. Obsessed? Nah. Just very appreciative of his talent.
Check out a few of his stuff here.

Enjoy =)

P.U.S.H

I'm in a music video. woooo!
Lol. This guy I know by the name of Paul Morris is a Christian rap artiste.
I was at a Christian DJ's Bday Party & he was there, came up to me and asked me to be in his vid.
He was shooting parts of it that night. I decided why not.

It's a good song, nice laid back feel.
 Enjoy =)
