New Tings

Its getting close to the end of the semester. I'm trying not to be in summer mode but that's becoming increasingly difficult. I'll be on a plane to JA next week Friday & that is where my mind is... YAAD!
I'll be there for a month because idk when next I'll be able to go there because...

I'm moving to England for Fall =)
Not sure if anyone pays much attention to the random written posts but couple months backed I posted a short bit about something happening but I was very vague.. Well that was it.
It has been a dream of mine since I was a wee bit to live in Europe & I have this obsession with all things British so I decided to go ahead and pursue my dream of doing dance over there.

Everything is bittersweet.. I'll be closing a chapter of life and starting a new one but I'm receiving it with open arms.

My friend Shaun by some random car. I found it fitting- car takes you places.. the Union Jack on the roof, It's a Mini... See where I'm going with this? =)

New Natural

Yendi Phillips, Miss Jamaica World 2007 and Miss Jamaica Universe 2010 who was also the runner up in the Miss Universe pageant 2010 has done the BC.

I've been seeing the buzz on Twitter and Facebook about Yendi's new do but I didn't know she went natural.
The buzz was mostly that she took out her weave. Bwoy Jamaican people are something else.
I saw a tweet that said "i still cant believe ppl thought all a that was Yendi hair. is not dry pikki pikki head ppl alone wear weave yuh hear.."

Anyways here is a pic she put up on her Facebook page

This pic is her Twitcon. Not sure if this was before or after the cut but it looks so

She's gorgeous and I know she will rock this well.

Artist's View

Another pic of mine was transformed by another artist.

Digital artwork done by Chantel Emmanuel.

Wadada

Wadada is an Amharic word that means Love.

Twin sisters, Asha & Ayanna Diaz hail from Trinidad & Tobago and they are the creators behind
Wadada Movement - a conscious yet stylish female clothing line.

The line developed from the twins not finding clothing suitable for them so they would make their own garments. This line was brought to my attention when I was watching the behind the scenes of Protoje's Rasta Love music vid. I posted about the music vid HERE.
I fell in love with the clothing and couldn't wait til they officially launched the line.
I might have to make a trip to T&T for an item or just contact them & see if they'll ship.

Their first collection is titled African Princess and is influenced by their Rastafarian beliefs.

Check out their site for more info HERE
& this behind the scenes look at the photoshoot for the collection.

Growth

Growing hurts.

I had a talk with my awesome sister couple of days ago about this and she said something that was interesting.
"If it hurts us, how does a plant feel?"

Cute really but something to think about. I don't know about you but growing up hurts. The emotional aspects of the daily struggles literally hurts but what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger right?

Loving someone and not having it reciprocated hurts.
Paying bills with a less than impressive paycheck hurts.
Crying hurts.

Hurt is apart of life. I've realized this a very long time ago and it will pop up at any given time.
I'm okay with this. Why? I trust in God and I know things occur for a reason.
To build my character and strength.

So I'm at ease with hurt. I endure it with a smile on my face & a tear in my eye.

Stop and Stare

I've been soooo bad on posting. I apologize. I've been caught up in school and work and sleep.
Tsk.

I have so much to post about though! My one year nappiversary passed on March 26th (YAY!)

so pics to come

but before I get into my loads of posts, I wanted to share this short film with you.

It is called Mankind is No Island and it was the winner of Tropfest NY 2008
Directed by Jason van Genderen, it was shot entirely on a cell phone on the streets of NYC & Sydney.

It is a very moving film and I loved the simplicity, no major cameras.. just an everyday tool.

Enjoy =)
