Twist n Curl

So that style I told y'all bout after I dyed my hair..
Yea this is it.
Shockingly I've never done this before. I've had flexirods for over 2 years now and never really used them. They aren't comfy to sleep in but the payoff is worth it and this is going to be a staple style for me.

Applied Mixed Silk Leave In mixed w/ SM Restorative Condish as leave in
KBB Heavenly Jojoba Oil as oil
SM Curl Enhancing Smoothie as Styler
Kept in the flexi rods the following day (wasn't going anywhere)
Took them the out the day after that.
Don't remember how many twists. Around 14 I think.

LISTEN!!!!
My hair looked so good! And felt good! And still feels good! (haven't washed my hair yet lol)
The fact that the ends being curled up has helped me keep my hair moisturized for 2 weeks is lovely.
I maintained the style by having my hair in a low loose ponytail and then popping on my satin scarf.
No re twisting or nada

Have you ever used flexirods?

Random

This blog was originally conceived as an outlet for the things I fancied.
It's evolved to a blog that revolves (see that rhyming?!) around natural hair.

Not sure how I feel about it.
I had a tumblr where I would posts original photography & poetry + reblogs but deleted it due to me wasting spending time on it.

I created a new one some months ago to focus really on my writing & photography
but left it to wither.
I'm thinking of being more active on it so certain things get posted here
and others there.

I'm going to try it out for around two weeks and see where that gets me.
I don't want this space to be a selfie loaded bit where no one learns anything.
I want there to be insightful content and nice pics to look at lol.

I don't want this blog to be the dredges in the cup after my YouTube channel and Tumblr.
Challenge : to find balance between them all. To see if the tumblr even works.

So.. if you wanna..
you can check out allisonmiche.tumblr.com

not much there right now so eh.
I don't even know if I remember how to tumble :S

Life & Death

Sitting in a coffee shop. Not drinking coffee. Waiting on my shift at work to start.
The soft rock playing at just the right volume and the low murmur of conversations provide a relaxing atmosphere as I munch on my supper

What I end up thinking about is a news report that absolutely turned my stomach.
A man was shot dead in a Florida cinema for texting during the previews. The previews.
What could possess a man to 1. carry a weapon to the movies and 2. To produce said weapon to then fire upon an innocent man for communicating not during the film but before!

It's ridiculous. I've seen many statuses and comments towards this story and one was along the lines of the man being annoyed. You got that irate to kill someone? Then that made me think of a personal sitiuation that occurred not too long ago.
You see I get annoyed very easily at the weirdest, slightest things. I don't know why and I don't like. Special people in my life don't like it either. My annoyance can and has turned into rudeness which has caused more than one blowup. It affects my relationships.
What's the difference between me and the murderer? I'm not one for violence and don't advocate owning weapons so there's that but my words are just as powerful. I can kill my relationships because of a misplace word. I can do great harm to someone because I let my emotions overtake me and my tongue becomes a weapon.
Jesus spoke to me on that. We don't realize how powerful the words we speak are. We're all going to answer for every single one, one day.

"In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire.” – James 3:5, NLT

Shots of Life

Instagram doesn't get all the shots of my life.
Sometimes I choose to hold onto them or share them here.
This was a day out in London with my gal pal @londonatlantic
Got to see my other lovely @CrystalAfro for a quick chat over Starbucks

Back to Black

Well I did it.
I yammered about wanting to change the color of my hair so I did it.
Went from this..

to this..

If you follow me on Instagram, you would have seen a pic of it.
But if you're reading this.. you get to see more pics!
The perks of reading this blog I tell ya..

I did it on Monday night.
Went out in the howling wind and rain to procure the hair color.
I bought the Dark and Lovely Hair Color in Natural Black from Boots.

It cost £3.65 which to me isn't bad.
It did a good job.
Left it on for around 25-30 mins and washed as normal.
Well I didn't shampoo the colored section, only co washed with Shea Moisture Restorative Conditioner.
Poo'd the rest of my hair with the SM Moisture Retention
then detangled and deep conditioned with Organix Coconut Milk Conditioner
put some avocado oil on the hair before putting on the plastic bag.
The style I did after will be another post.
I'm happy with the color, happy it took and looks like my natural hair color.
I keep looking at it though. So weird having my hair fully black after so long.

I will do a proper in depth review of the color on my YouTube channel

Twenty Fourteen

Happy New Year !
Wow 2013 came and left in a hurry :|
I must say, it was a really good year. So much happened and I didn't even realize until I reflected upon it.
I did a lil mini bit on Instagram about crossing things off my basket list
(yes basket and not bucket cuz baskets are lovelier)
and how the most important thing that has happened was me growing in God.
2013 is just the tip of the iceberg I'd like to call FAITH in the One who created all.
I'm grateful for the many things that I got to do last year and I'm excited for what God has in store for this year.

Yay Jesus!
Blessings man. 2014 mi ready fi yu.

All the best for you all!
