I started my channel, Elizzie954, back in 2008 when I was a senior in high school. I couldn't find many videos of girls with my hair type so I thought it would be fun to do my own product reviews. Soon I was getting questions from other curly girls and mothers on how to style my hair; therefore I started recording tutorials and just kept going from there.
How has your vlog affected you?
My vlog has helped me accept myself and my looks. I was pretty self conscious in school and never seemed to fit in. I tried to control my hair with way too much gel and mousse. Watching my videos from start till now, I see how much happier I am with myself. It's as if I had a lion caged up and finally set it free; it's unnatural to conform to others and the kindness from my viewers/friends helped me unleash myself in a way.
What do you hope to achieve with your vlog?
I want to be able to share my knowledge on curly hair and experiences. I don't want younger girls to have to go through all the tormenting I did for looking different and not fitting in because they don't belong to just one race. Besides sharing tips for hair, I want them to see that they should embrace being unique now so that they can live life for themselves and not others.
Regimen:
I wash my hair 3-4 times per week and I try to use natural shampoos and conditioners. I massage in shampoo only to my scalp then rinse. I then apply conditioner to my hair and detangle with a paddle brush. Then I rinse out the majority of the conditioner and wrap my hair in a microfiber turban to dry until it's damp. After it's dry I run a leave in conditioner through my strands until everything feels smooth and moist. Air dry and that's it.

Last week Thursday, I left lil ol Crewe & traveled to London town for the launch of RoseBOX UK.
RoseBOX is a subscription service that offers ladies who have kinky, curly, wavy & multi textured hair the opportunity to try out hair products not widely available in the UK.
So if you live in the UK, sign up! Head over to the site here & don't delay!
I was excited when I heard about this service being launched so I took up the opportunity to attend the launch.
The support was great as there were many faces present. I met some incredible ladies that night.
Rose of RoseBOX UK showcasing a sample box & answering questions.
I should have reached this milestone a long time ago but nevertheless, I am pleased as punch about it.
At one point I wasn't sure if I would continue with blogging due to varying circumstances so the fact that I'm at 300 posts & have faithful readers is tremendous.
Thank you to all who read, pass by & support. Can't wait to do 300 more!
Today's fix will be of ladies who inspired me to start blogging
Since we're almost into Winter (I want it to snow so badly!) I thought I woud share how I've been up keeping this mane of mine for Autumn.
I have a bit of a structured routine unlike in the Summer where I did a lot of wash n gos whenever I felt like it. I have to pay attention to my hair & keeping it healthy in the colder weather.
I do this once a week with a co wash or 2 in between. (I'll do a separate post on that)
Gonna sprinkle some pics of myself throughout the post because no one likes to read without pictures!
Or maybe some do....
Anyhoo, here it goes!
Waddup though?! Me with an old braid out ready to get on with my routine
it seems as if most,if not all, are out & about voting!
I planned on posting about this song from before but today it seems even more fitting.
It's the music video for Protoje's latest single Kingston Be Wise off of his EP 'The 8 Year Affair'.
Now I know Kingston is not in America but everyone who is voting today should BE WISE in their decision.
The song is very socially conscious with the lyrical content being based upon the Tivoli Gardens invasion by the Jamaican military 2 years ago.
The sound is very reminiscent of late 80s- early 90s reggae music. It reminded me of a Black Uhuru song.
The visuals for the track are simple yet profound with aerial shots of the different communities of Kingston & with shots of Protoje in Tivoli Gardens.
Kingston, be wise
Kingston, free up your mind
Kingston, just be wise
Kingston, free up the I, yeah
Take inspiration from these words in whatever you do today & tomorrow.
